About Me

Artist Statement

I believe that art is intimately tied to the human experience, offering both the creator and the viewer a chance to broaden their perspectives. My work revolves around documenting diverse current events, aiming to transport the audience to moments they might not otherwise encounter and evoke a deeper empathetic response.

Through the age-old process of illustrating with ink on paper, my pieces consistently feature intricate details and line-work. The interplay between positive and negative space is a recurring theme in my black-and-white creations. Through the use of cross-hatching, blocking, pointillism, and many other techniques the artist attempts to create depth through patterns and symbolism.

Inspired by a careful study of art history, particularly the High Renaissance, I place significance on mastering style, figure, and grotesque anatomy to craft compelling pieces. Studying the work and techniques of these artists allows me to translate references into an illustrative style while maintaining a rich range of shades.

Similar to how the artists of the High Renaissance immortalized the spirit of their era. I aim to capture the spirit of our generation by illustrating our struggles, triumphs, and ever-evolving lives that define our contemporary existence.
